Jurgen Klopp desperate to see more concentration from his players

Liverpool were held to a goalless stalemate to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie that took place at Anfield on Tuesday night

After an enjoyable first half in which both sides had their chances, the Reds and the Bavarians failed to provide the neutral with any sort of entertainment in the second period.

With Mohamed Salah almost invisible for the majority of the encounter and Sadio Mane not exactly at the peak of his game, the Merseysiders were struggling to create many goalscoring opportunities.

Probably the biggest chance of the game was seen in the 33rd minute, when Mane wasted a clear-cut opening to put his team on the front foot.

In the post-match interview, Jurgen Klopp has urged his players to show more composure and concentration in the final third.

“Our biggest problem was a very average last pass in about 10 or 12 situations that looked promising,” he said.

“We made life difficult for ourselves with those final passes, promising moves just fizzled out. We can play better, and we should play better, but even if it is not a dream result, it is still a good one.”

“Bayern are a very good team, and though our performance was not perfect, we still have a result we can work with. Nil-nil is the best home draw you can get, after all.”

Encouraged by the fact they’ve never suffered a loss to Bayern, Klopp and his players will head toward Allianz Arena next month with everything to play for.

However, Liverpool now have to focus on their Premier League commitments first, as they take on an in-form Manchester United, in what is something of a must-win clash for the Reds.
